SCOOP
The SURA Coastal Ocean Observing and Prediction Program
The Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA) has been advancing the vision of a Distributed Coastal Laboratory through an program called SCOOP -- the SURA Coastal Ocean Observing and Prediction program. The SURA Coastal Ocean Observing and Prediction (SCOOP) program is an initiative of the SURA Coastal Research Committee strives to integrate diverse efforts and to empower a virtual community of scientists with the tools, resources, and ideas that lead to scientific discovery. The purpose is to promote the effective and rapid fusion of observed oceanographic data with numerical models and to facilitate the rapid dissemination of information to operational, scientific, and public or private users. http://scoop.sura.org/
OOSTethys and the Oceans IE are SURA/SCOOP initiatives, and represent the SURA/SCOOP contribution to the NSF-funded MMI. The goal is to create a collection of open-source software tools and guidance documents (reference implementations & cookbooks) that makes it easy for anyone to serve their data OGC-compliant web services. The present implementation complies with standards underlying the OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) initiative.
